Updating Some Chairs in our Master Bedroom

So a few days ago I shared our master bedroom update with you after we added some new curtains.
Today's post is all about updating some chairs.

Originally, we had these dark chairs in our room that really brought the room down and made everything darker. I actually do like darker and cozier spaces, especially for a master bedroom, but once they were next to our dark dresser, I knew they needed a change. So I changed our the seat covers for something a bit lighter and brighter to lighten up everything.
This was a simple change I made and something anyone can do. It was also pretty inexpensive because I ended up just using a big tablecloth from Target for them. There is still more cloth left for other projects, which is always nice.

Let's get to the updates (before and afters), shall we?!

See how dark they were? I thought painting the seats black would be a quick way to update them, but sadly, the paint never dried completely...which is weird because I am not new to painting fabric and that hasn't happened before.
But I knew they needed to be changed out for not only design, but function as well.

Much lighter and brighter....and BETTER!

I have actually thought about painting the dresser and our headboard (since it matches the dresser) but I do like the look of wood so it will stay like this for now.

The backs of the chairs were painted with circles using a small roller. I did this quite a while ago and didn't take many pictures of the before...but they have been through quite the change.

That's all I have for today...off to complete a few small projects and hope to blog about them soon.

Thanks for stopping by!

New Curtains for our Master Bedroom

Hey there...sorry about the silence over here, but I haven't had much of a chance to blog because of the projects I have going on over on my Facebook page amongst other things as well.
We finally have curtains and some curtains rods hanging in our master bedroom and it is about time.

Why is it that the master bedroom is one of the last places one thinks to decorate?

Well, this space is slowly coming together. I have a long list of things to get done in the next year or so and a lot of it depends on cost and finding the perfect fit for our space.

Recently, we headed over to Target to buy some curtain rods for our master bedroom...I wanted something inexpensive, but not super cheap that you notice. Side note: can you believe that curtains rods can cost up to $25-$40 a pop?! No thanks!
Anyways, we decided on ones that were under $13 each and we needed 3 of them. Not too bad I guess. I do love them...I was worried they would be a bit feminine for our room, but the hubs didn't mind as long as I was happy with them. And I am! Here are some photos to share.

Here is the before:

This is one of the curtain rods I ended up choosing. It's so classy and fitting for our room.

These curtains were moved from our girls room and placed in here..I plan on getting them some black out curtains because their room gets more natural light and mommy and daddy don't want the little ones to keep running in our room at the crack of dawn...because that has been happening. ;)

I need to recover those chairs by our dresser...they didn't turn out the way I wanted them too, and they are a little dark for the space, so they will be getting a change.

The curtains were purchased at Wal-Mart and are actually bed sheets I turned into curtains. They are the same pattern I used for our dining room. This helps the rooms flow a bit better.

I will be back later this week with our chairs update.

Have a great Monday!!

"You Are My Sunshine" Wall Art

Since I sold our last wall hanging, I decided that something else needed to go in its spot...so I decided to use some leftover wood board from another projects, cut it down to the size I needed, and ad a cute little saying to it. "You Are My Sunshine" wall hanging is a great sign that works well in our space because of our neutral wall color and other distressed wooden items throughout our home. Everything is really starting to come together in our home and to me, that is really exciting!

I just decided to stain the wood with a mix of espresso and a gray wash- it's the same I used for our buffet table. I am really liking this kind of stain together. I wish something like it was sold separately. It always turns out to be a beautiful tone. I also hand-wrote the saying on the wooden frame and think it turned out nicely.

This cute little sign will be here to stay, I believe. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Thursday everyone!
