Girls Bedroom Progress

Well, the girl's bedroom is almost done...I figured it would be good to post about the progress made in there so far and I will add the details about the room progress at the end of this post.

I will start with some pictures first. :)

I have been waffling back and forth about curtains for the windows. I was thinking of either white or pink ones to replace the ones in there already because they are just make-shift curtains right now made from a bed sheet. :)
I asked the girls about which color they would prefer, and of course the answer was "Pink"! So I am giving it some thought...IKEA sells the ones they like, but I'm not sure we will be able to make a trip up there anytime soon.

The nightstands were moved from our room to here.  They fit perfectly in here and the girls love them. It's funny, because my youngest keeps trying to pull the handles to "open" the drawers to the nightstand, but it still hasn't completely clicked with her that the handles are just for decoration. There actually isn't a drawer. hehe!

The girls also want the walls painted pink...but if we actually do that, I think I can only handle a VERY pale pink wall color. Especially if we end up getting pink curtains...pink walls on top of that might be overkill. And I want this to be a room that will grow with them as well...not one where there has to be a drastic change every few years.

I think the picture above is one of my favorites!
And you can see that our younger daughter's bed (the one on the far right) is lower than the other bed...that is because we haven't put the bed frame on the bed yet. She is still a little young, and although she hasn't fallen out of the bed, we just want to be safe. So we have it sitting pretty low for her right now.

Source list:

Wall color- Was here when we moved it- but it is a light creamy, yellowy off-white.
Bed Spread and pillow covers- A gift from my mom and purchased at Ollie's
Nightstands- Thrift store find
Lamp- Outlet Store in Williamsburg
Frames and pictures- Gifts from grandparents
Basket- Thrift store find
Bell Wreath on Door- Another thrift store find :) Once the girls saw it, they "just had to have it"
Mirrors on wall- Target

**I would still love to also get a rug for this room to put between there beds to add a little more texture and color- but there is no rush for it so I am taking my time finding one.

That's the tour of their room for now. As we make more progress in here, I will post and share pictures.
Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!!

Newly Painted Nightstands

Recently I purchased some nightstands at one of our local thrift stores. I sold some nightstands a while back and ever since then, had been on the hunt for some new ones for our bedroom. So it had been a while since we had any nightstands in our room...but now we finally have a pair that match and I painted them and added some knobs. Even though there aren't any drawers on the nightstand, I thought that adding some for decoration would look good and keep the pieces from looking to plain.

I also decorated one of the nightstands with some pumpkins...because I just love pumpkins! And I added some blue flowers and a lamp that we have had for a while.

The basket was a thrift store find as well. It holds blankets and magazines.

I painted them with a mix of gray, blue/gray, and white and it turned out to be this beautiful color that works well with any paint and decor really. Our room was painted in Sherwin Williams Intellectual Gray which is a medium-tone gray with brown and green undertones. I love how these paint colors work together.

Have a great Tuesday! Hopefully I can post about our newly painted master bedroom.

Fall Mantle

Hi there and Happy Friday!!

So excited for the weekend and hopefully some good rest time with the family.
The weather has been gorgeous today and I am hoping that continues into the weekend. We shall see!!

Today I wanted to share some pictures of our fall mantle that I haven't posted about in a while.
I still haven't painted a thing in this space and keep waffling back and forth about the trim. I know that painting it white will allow me to choose more of a variety of colors but still can't find myself to pull the trigger and do it.

Anyways, here are some pictures of our fall mantle and I also added one of our new buffet table too.

I actually really like the color of the upper walls. I have no idea what color the previous owners painted it and wish I knew...but the bottom half is a brown color and I am not a fan of that. I was planning on painting the upper parts of the walls in here anyways and was thinking of going with SW Amazing Gray and would use SW Shoji White for the bottom half.

I am LOVING how this dresser turned buffet table looks now...I added the legs to it with the help of my hubby and I feel that really completes the look. :)

Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Adding Some Hardware to the Buffet Table

Hello...and happy Wednesday!
We have had some good weather today so a friend and I along with our kiddos took a nice walk around the neighborhood today. Tomorrow is suppose to rain and be cold again, so we are soaking up the "warmer" weather while we have it.

Today, I wanted to post about the buffet table again. I added some hardware to the front of the drawers and actually love how it turned out!! It all turned out better than expected because I was planning on using handles, but instead, once I saw these brass plates I had lying around in my stash I knew they would look better than the handles, so I went with them instead. Besides, each drawer opens using hidden handles underneath which is a cool feature. I haven't seen that before on a furniture piece, so I am pretty excited about it for sure! In fact, if the buffet table doesn't sell, I will be more than happy to keep it because I love it!! And it looks great in our dining room which is where it will be staying. Plus, it has a tremendous amount of storage with its 9 drawers...gotta love that!!

Here are some updated pictures of the piece. I still need to add some legs to the bottom and a coat of protection to the top and it should be done!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope to be back soon with pictures of the finished result once the legs are attached to this piece.

Dresser Turned Buffet Table has been Painted

I recently painted the dresser I bought at a local thrift store and am in love with the color. I custom mixed some paint together to achieve the look so it coordinates with the dining room and it turned out better than expected! I am very happy with it...and I love the shape of this thing because it is so unique. Here are some pictures of it...just a little sneak peek of course!

And here is how it looked before the make over...

I still need to add some hardware to the front of the drawers...,I plan on using some left over handles we kept after we did our mini kitchen makeover a while back. I also want to give this piece a little height so  I am thinking about adding some wood pieces to the bottom of it for that.

Can't wait to decorate this thing and use it as storage!!

Thanks for stopping by and happy first week of November to everyone!
