He Is Risen

Happy Monday everyone!!

Did you have a good Easter?

We did...as a family we actually didn't attend church on Sunday morning because my husband and oldest daughter were still recovering from a stomach bug they got a few days earlier. It really wasn't pleasant for them or for our family, but thankfully they are feeling much better and our daughter is back to playing and running around everywhere! :)

We still had a wonderful Sunday...we drove around town for a bit and grabbed some coffee. It was a relaxing weekend overall and we just had the chance to hang out as a family instead of going some place with friends (which is also something we enjoy, but it's nice to quietly be together as a family too).

But what we celebrate the most as a family is the fact that Jesus Christ our Lord has been risen from the grave and for that we are thankful for His saving grace! We have been watching The Bible series on television and it really puts it into perspective seeing what Christ went through before His death on the cross. When I read about the crucifixion in the Bible, I don't always picture the brutality of the beatings and the pain He went through let alone the fact that He took the sin of the world upon himself! But when I watch a reenactment (and I must admit I turn away at some of the parts) of the crucifixion depicted by actors like in the movie The Passion, for example, it really paints a clear picture of what happened to our Saviour. For us as a family, this is what Easter is all about...celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour and this is what we teach our daughters to learn about. It is by his grace we are saved and it's hard to find the words to describe the everlasting love He has for us.

I want to end this post with a song that we enjoy listening to as a family and one that reminds me of how I have been saved as a sinner who was damned to eternal death if I didn't have Christ.

The words are from Brandon Heath and the song is titled "Jesus in Disguise"

[Verse 1:]
Ever get something in your head?
It's nothing you heard
Or something you read

Ever had a cut but you never saw a blade?
Brought to your knees
But you never prayed

[Chorus:]
Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye

Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize

Jesus in disgu-ah-hah-aah-ah-haa-ise

[Verse 2:]
Ever feel like you been somewhere before?
You hold the key
You know which door

Speak the word your lips have never known
Because your heart
Told you so

[Chorus:]
Jesus in disguise
Jehovah passing by
The burden of a tear
Hanging in your eye

Jesus in disguise
A scar across the sky
You were looking for a king
You would never recognize

Jesus in disgu-ah-hah-aah-ah-haa-ise

[Bridge:]
So open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am

So open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am

Jesus in disgu-ah-hah-aah-ah-haa-ise
Jesus in disgu-ah-hah-aah-ah-haa-ise
Jesus in disgu-ah-hah-aah-ah-haa-ise
(So open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am)
Jesus in disgu-ah-hah-aah-ah-haa-ise
(So open my eyes wide as I can
Blind as I am
Blind as I am)
